Imagine: You can display your paper folder digitally. You define the file structure yourself and the Explorer displays all documents belonging to a record e.g. references, contract of employment, wage statistics etc. The same applies to information concerning customers (customer record), vendors (vendor record) or projects (project record). Here the Explorer also displays all allocated documents in a structured way and at a glance - almost as if you are flicking through the index of a folder. This way you can quickly navigate through the entire file in a familiar way- easy, transparent and completely in SAP™.
Virtual records can apply to various types of information concerning employees, clients or projects. The human resources management module of SAP™ (SAP-HR) is an examplary business field for the application of virtual records solution.

You can record a whole HR record in a single procedure (bulk processing). After the scanning the paper folder, different types of documents (e.g. CV, contracts etc.) are logically separated via barcodes and patchcodes and displayed in a structure according to their type and subtype. The visualization style and handling of the virtual records conform completely to your personal SAP™ authority rule.
You can add single documents (e.g. travel expenses or salary statements) later; you can change, delete or move documents in the structure via drag & drop, and call different SAP™ functions via a button in the menu bar. A considerate organizational advantage follows for decentralized structures.
