OCR - Barcode/Patch Code

The OCR recognition is a technology that analyzes binary images with character shapes, identifies them as specific character and hands them out to a text data flow, either in the storage of a computer or to a computer file. That means that you can convert the text, which is only available as pixel information on the images, in an editable text, which can be used for further processing. There is the possibility to carry out a zonal OCR (specific area) or an OCR of the entire page.

A special form of OCR is the recognition of a barcode (BCR) respectively a patch code. Here a barcode that has been added before the scanning is used for the later allocation of a document to a SAP™ receipt for example. A barcode or a patch code can additionally be used for the separation of documents in a scan batch.

Special scanners enable the user not only with the actual document scanning but also with a concurrent digitalization of an attached barcode respectively patch code directly in the hardware. The extracted barcode respectively patch code is then transferred to the connected computer. biz²ScanServer also supports the hardware-based barcode/patch code recognition.

The transfer of this data to SAP™ is an often-placed demand. This can be realized for example by scanning invoices, extracting invoice data automatically with OCR and transferring them to SAP™. All steps are integrated into SAP™ and are optionally controlled by the SAP™ workflow.

inPuncto realizes this with the biz²ScanServer.
