biz²ScanServer

Via the biz²ScanServer digital multi-function devices, e.g. digital copy machines (copy, print, scan, mail) can be integrated; into SAP™ from release 4.6b onwards. Contents of printed documents (barcode, full-text) are recognized via OCR and transferred to SAP™. The data of incoming documents, e.g. invoices are read out by OCR (Optical Character Recognition), validated and made available to the SAP™ transactions via the SAP™ workflow. Data from scan files (barcode/patch code and full-text) are extracted by means of OCR/BCR and transferred to SAP™.

Various scenarios are supported:

• Addresses single user or group of users; creation of a work order (SAP workflow)
• SAP™ in-box for users or groups (synchronization with MS Outlook possible)
  Workflow-supported individual processing of the work orders
• Classification by attributes from scanning process (name of scanner, time, etc.); linking of the scan object with various SAP™ objects (e. g. DIR, etc.)
• Re-scan and possibility to correct erroneous or incomplete scans
• Realization of a SAP-controlled circulation procedure for non-SAP users
• Full-text extraction for the transfer to TREX for the support of the SAP™ full-text search

Additionally image files (e.g. a TIF scan) can be transferred to the biz²ScanServer in the background. The biz²ScanServer can then extract barcode-/patch code- and full-text information from these files with OCR/BCR and transfer them to SAP™. Thus existing image files (e.g. digitalized in the SAP-GUI via biz²Scanner) can be indexed subsequently and flexibly.

Special scanners make it possible not only to scan documents but also to digitalize an attached barcode respectively patch code directly in the hardware. The extracted barcode/patch code is then transferred to the connected computer. biz²ScanServer also supports the hardware-based barcode/patch code recognition.
